Questions
What order will the images play in?
The order they are added, which follows the filename. Numbering files 01, 02, 03 rather than 1, 2, 3 keeps them in sequence, because 10 sorts before 2.
Should I make a GIF or a video?
GIF if it has to play in an email or a chat client that blocks video. Video for anything longer than a few seconds: it is far smaller and holds millions of colours instead of 256.
What frame rate should I use?
Two to five frames a second reads as a slideshow. Twelve or more reads as motion. GIF files grow directly with the frame count, so the rate is the main control over size.
Do the images need to be the same size?
It helps. Mismatched sizes are fitted to a common frame with the letterbox colour filling the gaps, so a set that is already consistent gives a cleaner result.
