Questions
Does lowering the resolution make the file much smaller?
Yes, more than almost anything else. Going from 4K to 1080p removes three quarters of the pixels, and the file size follows closely.
Can I make a video higher resolution?
You can set a larger frame, but it will not add detail. Upscaling stretches what is there, producing a bigger file that looks softer than the original.
Should I change the frame rate?
Halving 60fps to 30 roughly halves the data and is invisible for talking heads and screen recordings. Keep 60 for fast motion and gameplay, where the smoothness is the point.
Will the aspect ratio change?
No. The presets keep the proportions and set the height, letting the width follow, so nothing is stretched or cropped.
